SICILY TOUR - DAY 2 - 4 APRIL 2024

After a leisurely breakfast we headed inland to the Gole Alcantara geological and botanical gardens, and spent a lovely morning wandering through groves lined with beautifully scented orange blossoms, prickly pears and palms.

The highlight was the spectacular gorge with its’ basalt columns and geological formations, through which the icy Alcantara river runs. Many of our party paddled and the bravest amongst us actually swam!

Back to to Letojanni for lunch and free time, then boarded the coach once again to the beautiful medieval city of Acireale for our first concert of the tour in the Basilica Collegiata di San Sebastiano. Still short of a keyboard, we met a local character, Jerry, on the side of the road, who took us to a petrol station where Marcus and David collected the musical equipment!

The Basilica was beautiful, the acoustics were incredible and our audience was delighted that an English choir had come to perform for them and we had some fabulous compliments.

In great spirits from our first concert, nobody felt like going to bed but luckily Jaqui Nevin had managed to persude the hotel to open the bar for our return!
